The Channel Islander, recalled to the England set up last week by Glenn Hoddle, oozed his old confidence and swagger and popped up in the dying seconds to grab his second goal of the season and deny Forest victory. Southampton paid dearly for two early defensive errors when Kevin Campbell grabbed his fourth goal of the season following an error by Simon Charlton. Rooky goalkeeper Neil Moss, deputising for Dave Beasant who was absent due to a family bereavement, made a fine save to deny Dean Saunders but Campbell was on hand to head home the loose ball. Then in the 23rd minute Campbell turned provider, holding off a strong challenge from Southampton's new signing Claus Lundekvam before crossing for Saunders to rifle home his first goal since his return to English football from Turkey. Another Graeme Souness new signing, Richard Dryden pulled a goal back for Saints with a powerful downward header from Simon Charlton's corner in the 53rd minute. Then Le Tissier scored a vital goal from ten yards out, beating Mark Crossley with a right foot effort after another corner. Robbie Slater, who Souness signed last week from West Ham, was outstanding on his debut as Forest were forced to share the spoils.
